We are thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director, Jamie Levato.

Jamie Levato joins Fareground as Executive Director.

Jamie has dedicated the past 18 years to the field of education. A certified teacher with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Education from SUNY New Paltz, she started her professional career working with children of migrant farmworkers providing supplemental educational support for students and advocacy for their families. In 2008, she launched her tutoring and consulting business which focused on early literacy. Jamie joined the team at Poughkeepsie Farm Project in 2010 to lead the education department. Over the course of 11 years, she grew the programming 10-fold reaching several thousand youths each year. In her personal life, Jamie’s activism and advocacy are centered on racial justice with a focus on police brutality and issues in the criminal justice system. Jamie has been gardening, cooking, and loving food since childhood and enjoys every opportunity to share her passions with like-minded individuals. While food justice has been at the core of her work for many years now, it will be her focus as the first executive director of Fareground.
